Growing Up with EON!

Growing Up with EON!

As another year draws towards the wet season up north and Christmas approaches, there has still been plenty happening at EON. In fact EON is celebrating its 10th birthday. Over that time we have partnered with 17 remote Indigenous communities. We have proven that what we do has a real impact on bettering the health and education prospects for community members, particularly the kids. Sustainability has always been key to the EON program so we are so proud that some of the communities have completed the EON program and are now looking after the garden and nutrition program themselves, plus seeing spin off benefits of expanding gardens and training and employment opportunities.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last 10 years. We plan to continue to expand to keep transforming the lives of children in remote Indigenous communities. If you would like to help out with a Christmas donation, please follow this link.

New Funding

We are very pleased to have attracted grant funding from a range of sources in recent months. Clayton Utz, a previous partner in the Milliya Rummurra Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre, is supporting our Yakanarra project with a generous grant of $20,000 (see picture gallery below).

We have also recently received grants from the Department of Local Government and Communities and from Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, which enable us to do more in our existing projects. It is very gratifying to know that, despite difficult times, there is recognition of the need for EON’s work in WA’s remote Indigenous communities.

Workplace Giving

EON now has a Workplace Giving Program. We broke new ground recently in being accepted as a workplace giving partner by Chevron Australia. This means that employees of the company are able to choose EON, from a select number of approved charities, as the recipient of regular tax deductible contributions from their salaries. Chevron makes a co-contribution to EON with each employee donation.

We aim to establish more workplace giving partnerships. If you are interested in making such donations to EON, the chances are that you can nominate us as an approved partner where you work. You may only want to contribute a small amount each pay cycle but every cent counts. Please contact Stan or Sally at EON’s office on (08) 9380 8365 to discuss how best you can get a regular workplace giving donation up and running.

Orange Seed Project

We at EON were delighted to be one of 10 finalists in the 2015 Orange Seed Project. Thank you to all those people who voted for EON in the poll leading up to the final. Along with other finalists we received a $25,000 advertising package with the West Australian and $1,000 in cash.
