HOW TO USE
COMPOST
When the compost is dark, crumbly
and looks a bit like soil it is ready to use
in the garden. This takes 6 - 8 weeks.
You can use compost on everything.
You can dig it into existing garden
beds or put it on top and around
fruit trees. Compost can also be used
around existing plants. Established
shrubs and fruit trees will bene t
from a ring of compost. Fork it in
around where water drips from the
outermost leaves. Always cover it up
with mulch so it doesn’t dry out.
The plant roots will search for the
good soil which helps them they grow
outward and the retain moisture in
hot or windy weather.
Wear gardening gloves when handling
compost and wash your hands
afterwards.
