We’re excited to share the findings from EON’s 2025/26 Impact Evaluation, completed in partnership with independent researchers ThirdStory and Think Culture.
Drawing on in-depth data from 13 communities across Western Australia and the Northern Territory, alongside broader evidence from across the 32 communities where EON delivers, the evaluation provides strong evidence of the contribution EON’s Thriving Communities Program is making through healthy food, hands-on learning and long-term community partnerships.
The evaluation found that every participating community is maintaining productive gardens that provide fresh, locally grown food, while schools have embedded gardening and nutrition into everyday learning. Students are trying new foods, building confidence and developing practical skills that extend beyond the classroom, with many families now growing food and sharing knowledge at home.
Across the program, EON has also supported the creation of 41 local jobs, strengthened community leadership and seen early signs of local food enterprises emerging.
While there is more work to do — particularly in strengthening partnerships with health services — the evaluation confirms that EON is supporting communities to build healthier lives, stronger local leadership and more resilient food systems.
